| Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge Kicks Off. |
| Tough and hot conditions takes it's toll. |

Hot weather takes it's toll today in the first leg of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. Emirati rider Mohamed Shamsi had difficulties on the course, dropping to 11th place in the Quad Category. Part of the KTM-AUE ADCB Team, Mohamed is an experienced competitor who was able to get his KTM 525 Rally ATV across the finish line in spite of the challenging conditions. Sebastian Husseini is the current leader in the quad category, followed by Emirati rider Obaid Al Kittbe in second. Four more days of racing remain, taking place in the desert terrain near Liwa. This is the 20th anniversary of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
KTM Factory rider Marc Coma leads the open division, finishing Stage 1 in a time of 3h09'53. KTM-UAE ADCB's James West finished second with a time of 3h21'59. His teammate, Tim Trenker is in fourth position , back 17'09. The KTM 690 Rally bikes are ideal for the hot conditions and grueling terrain, crrently holding5 of the 7 top positions after the first stage of racing. |
